Jada Pinkett-Smith Keeps it Real: Love, Marriage + Relationships

By  |

Jada invites radio personality Howard Stern inside her marriage with Will Smith. She openly discusses their high level of trust, assuring Stern she is unmoved by Will’s possible celebrity crushes. Her confidence level is undeniable, exuding pure poise and coolness throughout the interview. She admits that marrying Will at the age of 25 was a bit ridiculous, and doesn’t suggest an early age marriage to anyone. But their marital journey, lasting just under twenty years, has rewarded her with overwhelming knowledge and experience.  She thanks God she has such a “gangster partner”, while Stern admires their ability to keep their relationship “fresh and real”.

“If Will wants to go out with another woman okay go ahead,” states Jada, “…as long as he can look at himself in the mirror and know that he’s okay[.] I’m not here to be anybody’s watcher.” She shows the world how secure she is within herself, and how confident she is within her marriage. Jada continues providing listeners with dope relationship advice insisting that, “You gotta trust who you’re with”.

She paints this idea that marriage isn’t some confining legal agreement used to force two people together. She  prides Will on his integrity, a characteristic that grants him all the freedom in the world.
