Quvenzhane Wallis Just Won’t Quit: Child Ambassador for Armani Jr.

By  |

Quvenzhane Wallis has lit up motion picture charts since the release of her debut film Beasts of the Southern Wild. She is the youngest Academy Awards nominee in history, and the first African American child actor to earn an Oscar nomination. She continues to infiltrate (and dominate) the entertainment sector, acting alongside Lupita Nyong’o and Brad Pitt in Academy Award-winning film 12 Years a Slave.

Bhen Zeitlin, director of Beasts of the Southern Wild, was impressed by Wallis’s reading level, loud scream, and ability to burp on command. But Zeitlin was not the only person swayed by Wallis’s star quality and demeanor. After her soon acclaimed fame, renowned fashion designer Georgia Armani could not wait to involve the young prodigy in a project of his own.

“Quvenzhane is so talented, despite her young age,” Armani told THR. “Her kindness, curiosity, and openness towards others really struck me, as they are all traits I admire.”

At 10-years-old Quvenzhane Wallis is the new face of Armani Junior. In the brand’s latest ad for kids, the pint-sized performer appears in a satin tailored suit. She is accessorized with a small puppy atop her shoulder. “I’m so happy to be chosen by Mr. Armani to be his ambassador for Armani Junior,” Wallis told The Hollywood Reporter. “I felt the same excitement when I got cast for a major film. Me? Wow!”

The child prodigy was five years old when she auditioned for the role of Hushpuppy, the leading character in Beasts of the Southern Wild. In February 2013, Wallis was cast as the title character in a new film version of Annie set to be released in December 2014. Wallis continues to set standards, break barriers, and remain a trailblazer for talented youth, serving as a role model for aspiring visionaries and dreamers alike.
